I just spent days watching tutorials and trying to figure out how I can edit a full mesh after I've added to it with the IMM brushes.

I found this on a forum and apparently I'm not the only one who has been frustrated with this:

As a new user, its just taken me a while to figure this out, and for those of you who dont wish to have to browse the net, heres the 1 stop simple explaination for the way it works. Aimed at people adding detail from a model from another program.

You import your model into Zbrush.
Place your model using the Tool Menu.
Rotate and Scale your model so you can see the part you want to work on first. (These controls are very easy to use)
Change out from the Transform mode and use Zbrush.
Once youve finished your zbrushing on that part and want to move to another part simple open up tools and save with a nice name.
Now open up a new document, load tools, and select the one you just saved.
Use the edit mode which will now be availble again to zoom into the next part you want to work on.
Continue process till Zbrusing is Complete.

Helpful.

I am not sure yet if this is going to work after iserting with the brushes as well.  But even if not, it would have still been helpful to find this info sooner.

Ahhh there is more.

When you add something with the IMM brushes, it appears to auto mask off the rest of the model.  This is why it can't be edited.

Ctrl + Click + Drag on empty space to remove the mask.

Now you can edit all again.
