Subject: Seams always visible even when painting seams

Floor13 ( ) posted Tue, 09 June 2015 at 6:15 AM · edited Thu, 29 February 2024 at 6:28 PM

I've just bought Blacksmith3D 6.1.0.1

As I rotate the V4 figure, I want to fix the seam on her shoulder.

I can paint with a texture

I can clone brush

I can smudge

But everything I do, the seam is always there. The action (e.g. clone brush and painting) is working, because I can export the image and then load it into poser. But because the seam is always there, I can't see what I'm doing.

It looks like many of the UV seams are always visible, and catching the light, even when the texture is perfect on those areas.

The quick render view is so blocky/graduated that it is unusable, even when quality is 100%.

The preview videos showed the seams being fixed in realtime, so I'm guessing that this isn't correct behavior.

Ok, so reading the manual once again, It looks like I can press G to turn the light off. This gives a much better quick render view.

When I turn the light off in the main viewport, it seems like I can actually see my clone brush having an effect. But the lag and jump is truly terrible and unusable with mouse or tablet.

Windows 7, 64 bit, using the 64bit version of Blacksmith 3D 6.1.0.1

16GB ram

Intel Core 15-4670K 3.4 GHz (Not the greatest, but surely more than adequate?)

GeForce GTX 970 graphics card, which is one of the best around (cue flame warm)

Please note that there are several factors that can cause painting lags. Often, slowness can be caused by resolution of the texture map(s) and the weight of your mesh (polygon count) that you are working with. Blacksmith3d uses a temp file area to store your tasks, so that it knows what to "undo" should you need to use that feature. Sometimes, limits of temp file sizes or cache memory can cause an issue. So, if you haven't already, please make sure you do a fresh re-start, and make sure your windows software and graphics software are up-to-date. I have a nice GeForce graphics card too, and have to update it fairly often.  Please also remember that other software running on your computer can hog up resources and can sometimes cause performance issues as well.  If you continue to have problems, please save your work in a project file and email us a copy to info@blacksmith3d.com so we can look into the issue can give you a more accurate diagnoses.
