Subject: Eyebrows

Why, oh why, did we start putting the eyebows back ON the face map? If at any time we SHOULD have separated them again, was when we started doing SSS. We have this beautiful render engine, beautiful figures and now that we can get the skin, the hair, the eyes just about where we'd like them to look, we have these glaringly WRONG eyebrows. Daz...please....separate the two again so that 1: We can make the eyebrows close to the color of the hair again and 2: so the SSS doesn't change the color of the eyebrows. Please??? Here we have Genesis 3 and still putting the eyebrows on the face map. Why did we stop doing that again? It's one of the few gripes I have about the figure, but it's a big one.

BethQQQ has a thread listing textures with no-eyebrow options in the DAZ forum. I was one of those lobbying for a separate eyebrow in a V4 update - unfortunately when we got it it went unused so it is not surprising that later figures haven't included one.

Well, we need one now, now that we have SSS ;). Maybe ya could put in a good word? LOL And thanks..I'll check out that thread, tho I'm sure there's nothing for Genny2 or 3 which is what skins I'd be wanting :(. Never had much use for V4.

I'm assuming you mean they went unused because the VENDORS didn't use them. Stress the fact that times have changed (and so has the render engine) and we need separate eyebrows again. I want the same rich brown with a nice sheen that I have on my figure's hair on the eyebrows and instead I have...2 RED fuzzy smudges. Uuuuurgh.

I always used them but most people didn't seem to dial them in. I really wanted two or three layers of them for the proper depth.

I was away from Poser (which I've used exclusively for 16 years up until DS 4.8 came out) for a few years and when I came back, we had V4. Not only did I find her kinda fugly, she had no separate eyebrow mesh (or none that I could make visible) and no textures where the brows weren't on the face map. I was crushed ;). Then we got SSS and I had to live with reddish eyebrows, no matter what color they were on the map.. With Iray it's even more obvious. Shame that no one that made the final decisions was thinking about how SSS was going to effect the brows.

Ghostofmacbeth...I agree. I think a few layers would be really nice, but at this point I'd be ecstatic with just one layer ;).

Well, the textures without eyebrows thread did I think have some discussion of why they were a more important idea now than before. One suggestion, once we have brow-less G3F maps, is to get a series of presets for Look at My hair/Garibaldi Express - though of course for now that is not terribly Iray-friendly.

I have a tutorial up in a thread on the Daz forums about converting V4's brow prop to Genesis using Daz Studio only. The procedure should be the same for G2F and G3F, but you'll need to do some more work for G3F as she has no V4 UV. Unfortunately I can't link it atm since their forums are down. I'll link it up once they're back up and running.

Looks like I can't get the link afterall. They've drastically changed their forums, and getting the link from Google leads to a 404. I know I have a copy of what I posted saved somewhere on my hard drive. I can track it down if you're interested.

/edit- found it.

If you want to repost it, that's great. However, it's gonna be way too much work for most people...maybe even me, as I don't know DS all that well at all. I tried making a clone the other day and wound up with a mess...lol. I imagine this will likely end up the same. Besides, I have no textures other than old V3 textures that have separate brow maps anyway and don't intend to buy any more V4 textures, so any conversions will also entail removing the brows from a comparable map and creating eye brows for the separate mesh (something I'm not very good at - I have to paint with a mouse.)

As for the LAMH, I know for a fact that my computer isn't ready for dynamic/mesh hair as I can't even use Poser's hair without slowing to a crawl. A separate brow mesh with a trans map and bump remains the best compromise between looking good and playing nice with most mainstream computers.

I would pay a fair bit of money for a working eybrow figure which is morphable. ;-)
