Subject: Barracks Furnishings.

Ok, I've got my Space-Marines well equipped but I still need a couple of things. I want to build a shipboard barracks room. Does anyone know of a metal-frame bed prop or military style bunkbeds? I could also use a footlocker. Any ideas?

What's a footlocker? Unless someone beats me to it I could make you a bed - tomorrow, it's midnight here :o)

A footlocker is a small metal rectangular type trunk for storage of items. They range in size, but some of the small ones that my dad had when he was in the military were about a foot high, about 15 to 16 inches deep, and about 30 inches wide. Most were a dark gun metal gray tone, while the classier ones were black with brass trim.

Ah, like a little metal chest for your personal belongings?

Ernyoka: yes, pretty much. Here's a photo I found from an anthropology museum. Once upon a time, I was studying to be an archaeologist... -Mike

There's a WWII vintage metal American Military footlocker (aged) on this page; http://corregidor.org/503jumpstation.htm

I have a free metal bed that would work...I will look to see who it came from. Diane

Last year, someone posted a whole series of spaceship interiors in tandem with a huge exterior file: hallways, bridge, a few others. I'm certain there was a crew's quarters in there as well, but I can't remember who did it. This sound familiar to anyone else?

The metal cot I have was made by "Graphoid". It is no longer in freestuff, but he is still a member here..maybe you could send him a IM. BTW, "Zippy" has a barracks available in freestuff. Diane Cot seems to render kind of rough, though.

Emyoka and bknoh, yes please! :o). JoeyAristophanes, are you thinking of lalverson's AFA Carpathia? Theres a captains stateroom in that and I'll be using Carpathia walls and bulkheads for my barrackroom.

Yeah, that sounds right. And I'm pretty sure there was a scene file of the crew's quarters.

If you still need the footlocker let me know (coolerBear@att.net & I can ship this one over. It's loosley based on my grandfather's WWII locker which is sitting in my office. Since his was custom made (he was a Maj General on Eisenhowers staff in England :-) I left a lot of the "salad dressing" (brass decorations) off. (164K zipped, texture not included) I also have a morphing dufflebag (see inset) available in the Free Stuff Club over at PoserPros

There. Sorry it took so long. Hinged bunks. I KNOW they're not typical army bunks :o) But Replicant WANTED hinged bunks. Replicant, if this is what you wanted, I'll e-mail them to you. And in any case they'll go into Free Stuff as soon as my host gets them uploaded :o)

Oh and it's actually ONE bunk, on this pic I have just used 2 of them. Blanket and pillow are not included but are mine, they are in free stuff (Folded Linen and Morphing Pillow)
