Subject: Proper camera settings for close-up renders?

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good camera lens to use for rendering close-ups that doesn't make the character's head look too big. Focal length and all that stuff. Anyone?

i use 135mm. When you switch to a longer length, you have to pull the camera back, of course, until the composition is the way you want it ::::: Opera :::::

Yup. What operaguy said.

You could also use somewhere around 85mm. The Poser default is roughly the theoretical ideal, but, partly for reasons of camera history, a focal length of about 50mm on 35mm film is accepted as standard. And, for other optical engineering reasons, 85mm was another common lens. A good "standard-zoom" will cover the range from 28mm wide-angle to 80mm, or a little longer, and the longer zoom lenses usually cover a range of about 80mm to 200mm. Digital cameras with a zoom lens will have the equivalent to a standard zoom.

Old thread I know, but it might help the new users.

I use 105 as recommended to me in this thread:
