The stuff they release today as Gold would not have been a beta release let alone in a testing phase.
I was beta Testing Bryce when it was still owned by Meta Creations and I was shocked when they released version 4 to the public with the amount of known bugs in the program.
They basically had a release date deadline and regardless if all bugs were fixed or not it got released.
I think these days, software is released to public with Minor Known bugs with the lets fix it with a patch attitude.
I am still running WIN2000. I do not care to upgrade to another MS product anymore. You say Bryce 4 was released with a lot of bugs. I have been with Bryce since Bryce 2. I agree there were problems but they got fixed fairly fast and Bryce hardly ever crashed on me.
Then I bought and installed Bryce 6.1. This is the worst Byce version I have ever experienced.
The buttons are hypersensitive. I have problems stopping a render (crash), starting a render (crash), adjust the sun and moon (crash), add a material (crash), import an object (crash).
Al I ever get is "Program is not responding". I actually have not been able to complete one scene yet. If they don't come up with a fix soon I will go back to Bryce 5.
It is true that it was a cheap buy, $6.00 is nothing, but it was not mentioned that what we buy is woth nothing. Not even $6.00. What about the customers that buy this product now for the full price? I do believe that Bryce 6.1 is still a Beta version and we have now the privilege to pay for testing it, send in our bug reports and the eventually are allowed to pay for Bryce 6.5.
