THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Help with free item (not working)

FarawayPictures ( ) posted Wed, 09 May 2007 at 7:33 AM · edited Wed, 24 July 2024 at 6:32 PM

I downloaded the free Manga Bike:

Currently on this page:
www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/index.php

Abyway, I loaded it into the object library, no problem. But when I clicked on it to load into a scene it crashed Bryce (6.1).
Now I can't get it out, because anytime I touch the image in the library I crash again.

Any help?
Thanks
Chris

I just tried loading the bike in 6.1 and it imported correctly. I tried it several ways, importing into the Objects Library, pasting it in via the Windows folders, with and without the plus sign.

All versions loaded correctly without crashing Bryce.

If it just won't cooperate, you can delete the OBP file by going into the Bryce 6/Presets/Objects folder, locating the offending OBP file and deleting it.

If you imported it into a category that has other objects in it, select all objects except for the bike, export them as an OBP file, go into the Bryce 6/Presets/Objects folder, delete the old OBP file and then replace it with the one you just exported.

Oh, I was able to successfully get it into Bryce 5.5 as well, so if you have that version, maybe try it there, save it as a scene file, then open it in Bryce 6.1.

I Imported into User Object and Rendered no problems, with Bryce 6.1

I would suggest you re-download the file.  It may have corrupted during the transfer.

When I download from the Web I prefer to use FIreFox and or a Download manager which will ensure there are no errors.

OK, thanks for all the help.
I managed to delete it following jelisa's advice.
I then re-downloaded it. Imported it, and it's crashed me again :(

For info: I used Firefox to download. I'm using Bryce 6.1 on the Mac.

Would it be possible to zip and e-mail me a scene file?
Thanks for any help you can give.

E-mail is:

Thankyou for any help you can give with this.

I can duplicate this on my G4, OS10.3.9 (my 10.4 machine is in use at the moment). Used Safari 1.3.1 to download so it's probably not Firefox. Failed with 6.1, 6.0 and 5.5C. Tired via Object Import and and putting it in the Object presets folder. It's also not producing any sort of error log from the OS - which is very unusal. I'll try this on my MacPro and 10.4.9 later.

Doesn't work on my MacPro/10.4.9 either - same .OBP loads fine on my Pentium-D/WinXP. Even worse, saving the PC scene file and loading that onto the Mac results in degenerate faces (windshield) and lots and lots of missing polygons (bike body). Image shows the Mac render. I get the same exact results from Analog's file.

That's a real shame for Mac users. I've saved the original file for my PC at home (when I get it upgraded), so hopefully one day I'll use it.

Thanks Analog for your help. Very kind to do that.
Thanks Dan for trying, sorry it did'nt work, but it's nice to know it's not just me.
