Subject: It's a shame this board doesn't get used more

FlagonsWorkshop ( ) posted Wed, 03 October 2018 at 10:34 AM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 5:27 AM

Over at the other place there are some lively discussions about upcoming projects, they don't seem to happen here even when vendors take the time to announce their new items which is sad. There are a lot of interesting items coming out. Flipmode has two new ones which offer low render times on scenic vistas called his Easy Environment series. The current two are even from a planet you may have visited.

Don did a really interesting pose set with Protest signs that can be quite useful, particularly if you can texture the signs with whatever message you want. The set will allow you to do groups of people each holding a sign, but also has larger signs held up by more than one person.

AliveSheCried has another really nice set of real world body types for G8.

What new products have caught your eye, and what gets you excited about them?

What with things like patreon, youtube, twitch, lots of people (myself included) are more likely to post wips, livestreams and video to get feedback from people actively watching or at least following closely. Not saying it's a "good thing" since it's to a more limited audience, but works seem to get more involved feedback, rather than "it's good I like it".

Why not post links to those items here when you do them? It might get you more views by people interested in buying. I'm all for using every available means for generating interest. Twitch I haven't done, I do use Youtube quite a bit when looking for 3D information.

DarksealStudios ( ) posted Wed, 03 October 2018 at 2:17 PM

I dont post links because I no longer sell at Renderosity. I do not know the TOS of the site when it comes to things like promoting ones self and "other" marketplaces. I'd love Love LOVE to use the forums here for that purpose because it is the most active community and would get my items seen.... but once my items hit the store they get lost in the tide. (and other reasons I won't post)

No, it would have to be about items you sell here according to the TOS, you'd have to talk to management about that and I am not one of those ;) I'll check out your Youtube and Deviant Arts stuff tonight.

Hi, is this the form where I can post new products I have created or things I'm working on for others to see?

thanks

FlagonsWorkshop ( ) posted Wed, 03 October 2018 at 9:08 PM

Personally speaking, i already am overwhelmed. As a full time artist/content creator, the amount of channels that are available now for communication can feel impossible to keep on top of, so I've tended to pear down my activities to just the one or two places that seem to get the most activity for me, which for a long, long time now has really been almost entirely Facebook. My own website has some built in social media integration for when I post something there, so those posts aggregate through FB, Twitter and a couple other places. If there were a way to have that kind of functionality here or in reverse, where posts on the forums here could aggregate out just like they do from my own site, then I would likely make this my primary point of contact, with that then rippling outward. Until then, though, I just don't know what, if any, effect it would have and since this is business for me as much as it is art, I have to be very conscious of that stuff. It's just a rarity, too, that I even got wind of this thread or visited this forum, and did so entirely at the request of a Rendo admin. I've had a strong relationship with Rendo for literally as long as it has existed and would love to see the site take some steps forward like this, to better integrate itself into the world of modern social media. The possibilities form that are limitless for artists, vendors, and Rendo alike. -Les

Honestly... I have no idea. Really. I get kinda lost under the volume of rules there are everywhere for what people can or should post in one place or another. Not even talking Rendo specifically... just in general. I think that's a lot of why social media has supplanted the older forum model quite a bit, because it's so wide open.

acharyapolina ( ) posted Thu, 04 October 2018 at 11:08 AM

ok cool. :)

LifeMotion ( ) posted Thu, 04 October 2018 at 12:08 PM

Hello. I have a few items on Rendo. This is an animation for Genesis 2,3,8 figures. My youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIZ3QMVuuCoXe0Q_SdWa1_w?view_as=subscriber. I would like to know your opinion and ideas for new products.

P.S. Sorry for my English. This is not my native language))

FlagonsWorkshop ( ) posted Thu, 04 October 2018 at 12:32 PM

acharyapolina it probably should go as a separate thread in this forum to get the most views. By the way, that's an awesome promo shot for the probe. As Darkseal pointed out, products do get lost here rather quickly. While Rendo does have genre categories, I'm not sure how many people here know how to access them, and they still don't make it easy to find something if you don't know it exists. Sci Fi for instance brings up 20 pages of products and there doesn't seem to be any way to whittle it down to say "props" or "vehicles"

LifeMotion, Love your animations. they look real life. :) diogenese19348 thanks for the tip. will post from on in the main forum. thanks.

Nice compression folds in that stuff. Love that there's asymmetry to it, too. Nice work.

Male clothes are always welcome as they are pretty scarce ;) This one has a good practical outdoor working look to it which is even scarcer.
