I never cared for the look of Starfleet interiors; they seem to be designed to look like the world's blandest lounge, or outright dangerous, with numerous hard surfaces, silly ramps and railings, daft seating arrangements and so on.
I know they're supposed to have inertial dampers, and if they fail, the crew would be a thin smear on the front walls but even so, they should take a tip from other starship designers and get some more padding and lose the ramps. Some versions do have seats. David Tenant's version, for one. Anyhow, the TARDIS gets a free pass, since the show isn't claiming to be "proper" SF that people could take seriously. Trek - and others - have pretensions in that direction.
