The nickname "Innovari" (meaning innovation or renewal in Latin) has been with me since I came across Syd Mead's prototype car design of the same name in his wonderful book "Sentinel." This work, with its air of "a new era of design"—along with the works of many SF and fantasy illustrators (such as Chris Foss, Peter Elson, Angus McKie, Chris Moore, Jim Burns, and Fred Gambino)—drove me over the years to do my own artwork.
"Fantastic fiction" always had a remarkable weight in my whole personal and professional life. I have been a professional SF author, I edited a fantasy and horror movie magazine, and for ten years have been chief modelmaker in my own special effects company.
In the last decade my creativity has leaned towards computer graphics and 3D illustrations in particular—with which I wanted to create professional artworks for books and magazines. I'm happy to say that in recent years this objective has been fulfilled, with many works sold worldwide to private and corporate clients.
Currently I'm building my worlds in Bologna, Italy, where I share a home with my wife Raffaella and our cats Leeloo and Merlin.

know the book well, having read it in my youth..;) the movie..well, I think the choice of director was probably not the best, the story was roughly followed, but the original impetus to the movie was 'let's make a bug movie' (I'm not kidding about this)..heck, even the sequal was better. I think this more truly follows the spirit of the book..great work.

Very nicely done Duo.I'm very impressed by your wealth of information included with this image.Oddly enough I have unique ties with your story. In 1987 I worked on a kids show called "Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future".The model shop where I was working was headed up by a gentleman named Ron Thorton. My rabid interest in computers (Amigas) helped lead Ron to persue computers on his return to LA California.Mr.Thorton was the co-founder of Foundation Imaging, and has been a strong supporter of LightWave ever since. My last contact with him a couple of years ago he was finishing up on a animated version of Captain Scarlet.Funny while working with him in '87 I was rereading Starship Troopers and had suggested it'd make a great movie. While it was a great if campy movie,as you know Hollywood always has to change what was a good book. Some of the original book artwork evolved into model kits made by a company called Nitto. Best regards Duo! :B eaver !

Awsome rendition! Personally I think the book was fa supioror to the movie as the movie did not capture the tactics used nor the waeponry right at all. The MI used the battle suit instead of vast numbers of MI (and they never did explain how they could launch a tactical nuke and survive the radiation or blast in such close proximity, but I digress...). Love your work!

Ah yes...I knew it was only a matter of time. I have the book the computer games (they just came out with another one) and I have almost all the episodes on DVD and all the televised episodes on tape. I used to belong to a few groups on the web dedicated to the show. I often wonder what the guys that worked on that show are now doing. Probably working at Zoic or something. A show definately too good for morning television and I wish SciFi would have put money into financing a second season for it in prime time. I mean they have a computer animated show on now, why couldn't this be popular too.
