Description

"The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself." ~ Archibald MacLeish, poet and librarian (1892-1982)

Near yesterday's Temple of the Blue Crab, I found this interesting ocean detritus washed upon the shore. I assume it is some sort of sea plant, a kelp with air bladders or some such thing. However, it reminds me of the discs of a spinal cord or the spiral pattern of DNA. I am continually amazed at how many things in nature echo the Golden Ratio. The movie Phi delved into this and is quite an interesting film if you happen to find a copy. Have a great weekend everyone! ----- Thank you for your crustaceous comments on my last upload, Beach Art - The Crab Temple.

That is really amazing. I have never seen anything from a beach quite like that! I'm curious, did you touch it? I wouldn't be able to resist. Of course, I'd probably end up with some strange, unexplainable rash or disease... :p But it's so tactile, I'd have to see what it feels like.

Ocean detritus? Eh...in english please....or swedish even? LOL. Whats that? It looks like one of those candy-necklaces....not that i would wanna suck on it. Or perhaps its the spinal cord...chord?..from a watersnake or something. Regardless what it is, its a really cool find and capture. The only thing i ever found on a beach was some bathing trunks....eeeew. #:o/ Have a great day buddy!!! #:O)

I am astounded by the shapes and forms nature lavishly offers to us, even without knowing anything about Fibonacci & Phi. Great composition and creativity.

A VERY GOOD FIND , THE OCEAN'S ARE NOT WHAT THEY SHOULD BE , THEY ARE DIEING THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT AND POLLUTION IS KILLING THE PLANTS IN THE OCEAN . WE SHOULD ALL BE AWARE AND TRY TO SAVE OUR PLANET INSTEAD OF TRYING TO MAKE MONEY FROM IT'S RESOURCES .~~~~grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Fascinating structure! Reminds me of the "Apartment Buildings in the year 2000" as shown at the 1965 NY Worlds Fair. Polygonal housing modules stuck out like leaves from a central support shaft.

What really strikes me about this one is the composition. You got the whole thing in the shot, left some space to the side, and put a great, simple frame around it. In short, you know how to dress a good shot. The subject itself is also very interesting, and the impressive amount of detail made me stare at it really hard when it first came up. Just amazing.

Original and make a good shot suject, but what is this really?

PhotoSmith

4:29PM | Fri, 11 August 2006

Yep, Kort, I've been told more than once that my DNA must be twisted! Some people are always trying to be funny - what's a guy gonna do? Funny about the golden ratio - like the rule of thirds in photography. Or 2/3 to 1 to 1 1/3 as a pleasing proportion to build a house, set of cabinets, or perhaps a speaker cabinet. It's been found that there is almost no interior resonance in speaker cabinets that follow the rule of proportion! But I digress.... wonderful image. And I really like the way you always challenge our imagination.

Yes Kort what a lucky find, so strange almost alien in form, I guess it's just shark egg sacks or a "Spinal tap " ! hehehe, neat shot Cheers

Whatever jif3d says--or maybe the cork floats for a Jellyfisherman, hehe. Pauling suggested the helix and came close, off by only one. The X-ray crystallographer was key. Crick was a close reasoner. Watson, standing on the shoulders of others, played with his ballser, molecular models.--WHAMMO!
