Description
My LOTR tribute, for my daughter, who's breathless first comment upon viewing this beautiful epic movie was "Oh Mom! Did you see the gorgeous elf??" It's my hope that someday she will be able to see the forest behind the elf *g*.
The background was an exercise in Bryce .. the terrain is 4 terrains stacked , all with different textures some created in the DTE and some created from free ground cover I found at Digarts, samples from the Jungle3D pkg. Stacked one on the other I think I like the effect.
Every thing you see of the background is in the actual Bryce file, the trees except for a couple are made from Johnathan Allen's tut, then I grab some foliage from another model and mixed and matched. I also added another tree top in among the background trees.
The far right tree is one I painted and then applied to a symmetrical lattice , then I used a Jungle 3D canopy for the tree top. The ferns are first made in painter and then also applied to a symmetrical lattice .. to finish it up I used the old "Lit Rays" material on cones trick (Andy uses this in a tut he has on his site).
The whole idea was to create myself a forest library of parts so that I can construct forest images a bit faster .
Hope you enjoy .. Wood elf was created using Mendis fantastic "Wood Elf".. there is a detail of him in Poser for anyone interested .

Damn... for a second I did not recognize my Wood Elf. I thought to myself, "she must have made her own, that looks too good to be mine..." :) But oh my word... you have brought tears to my eyes Laurie...THIS is what he was created for, and I could not be more proud and happy!

Laurie, this is too awesome for words. That's excellent Bryce work all around and the best forest scene I've ever seen. And you didn't stop there! The Poser work looks natural, and the whole thing is just seamless. Great colors, textures, lighting, composition, everything. I'm glad I caught this; I almost missed it.

Laurie - every once in a while, I come across an image among the many from skilled artisans in these forums that so closely knock the literal breath from my lungs - that surfing the galleries is beginning to be hazardous to my health...lol. Today, after just recovering from a month long battle with the flu, I receive a fine comment on one of my pics from you, and now have opportunity to click on your most recent upload - only to feel the whoosh of air leave my lungs involuntarily again. My good gawd Laurie - this is without a word of exaggeration, or stretch of the imagination - one of the VERY BEST Bryce background environments I have EVER had the pleasure of having appear on my screen. Your exquisite eye for detail coupled with your technical skills are 2nd to none. I've not had the pleasure of seeing LOTR, but after seeing this stunning piece of extraordinary work - I've seen the best the movie could ever offer. This comment will embrace both of your uploads Laurie, so I was also extremely impressed with the close-up view of single male character. You are certainly a skilled artisan, and one who shall be the shinning pinnacle of example for the desired achievement of many who aspire to 3D - myself more so! Truly a masterful achievement.

It really is hard to add something new to what everyone else has already said, but this is truly wonderous work Laurie. Good forest scenes are hard to find, EXCELLENT forest scenes are next to impossible to find, so far this is definately THE best I have seen. Look forward to seeing more!!

I could not comment on the dress you just posted, so I decided to visit your gallery. I entered something I can only describe with the name Ali Baba. I will come back often, very often, because Many of your images radiate the atmosphere I love so much in the later Pre-Raphaelite movement. Much poetry can be found here, beautiful colours, dramatic light, perfect compositions. Thanks for creating this holiday/hideaway from the madding crowd.
