Description

The last lighthouse from last weekend's trip. This one is named for Captain Don Bruno de Heceta of the Spanish Royal Navy, an explorer whose expedition passed along the Oregon coast around 1775. It sits 205 ft (62m) above the ocean on the central Oregon coast. This shot was taken from across the bay through the mist and fog. Did I mention that the weather was miserable? :-) Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

This is quite an impressive shot for having fog and rain to deal with, and you sure captured the beacon at just the right moment. I think I know where you were when you took this picture. If you looked closely at the rock wall you would have seen the red paint from our car as Ken drove into the rock because he was looking at the light house and not paying attention to where he was driving.

This is a magnificent shot. The mood is what I would expect but the view is uncommonly dramatic. Excellent!

What a terrific shot and oh how lonely it must have been for the litehouse keepers! Nothing but crevices and hills surround it! Kudos to those who manned it! Wonderful capture with the weather being what it was .....

The weather may have been miserable for you, but it is a real treat for us... how rare to see a lit lighthouse with enough ambient lighting to also see the buildings. This is a rare and charming image. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

What a wonderful shot. Despite the fact that I live in Arizona and like it here I love miserable days like that to go out and explore, or just walk, or take pictures. Your picture caught the conditions perfectly. Judging by the statistics you gave for the lighthouse the swells must have been tremendous- straight across the Pacific with no obstacles to slow them down until they reached the coast. A wonderful and interesting series, Sig...

Great shot. Bleak and stormy looking. Wouldn't you hate to be the keeper? Must take a special kind of person.
