Description

Another bird from the Ridgefield NWR. I almost missed this Great Blue Heron. He was so close to the road that I almost looked right past him. But he was more than willing to pose for me once I'd spotted him. The Great Blue Heron is Portland's official bird, and there are many in the area, but it's rare to be able to get this close to one, especially for any length of time. I liked the way the sun was shining through his beak. Thanks for stopping by, and for all the wonderful comments on yesterday's redtail.
