Description

Painted using Photoshop CS4 and wacom intuos3 tablet and pen This african flower was painted originally to be part of a previous upload, 'Cheetah out of Africa' , but it took me a while to paint and it seemed sad to make it small so as to fit it into another scene. So this african flower now takes centre stage as it not only blooms showing off its vibrant shades, but also provides some shade for the little animal friends who take shelter under her petals, namely the african reed frog, african ladybird, and african snail. As I got lost within the painting, I imagined a turbulent storm that flooded the plains of Africa, that brought new life to its surroundings, and as the plants and flowers grew their fine leaves brought shelter to the smallest of animal life - Animals always play a big part in all my art, what would life be without them? I hope you like it everyone, thanks for the look, thank you for the prievious wonderful inspiring comments, and thank you for all the previous faves too, they are all so appreciated my friends! There has been a lot happening in mine and my families life recently and I have tended to just forget my problems within my art, and caring for my pets. Sorry for my lack of comments my dear friends but I hope to put that right this week. Hope you are all well, take care, hugs Jane xx *Please zoom* Note ... The flower is a Disa Uniflora orchid, here is a link kindly found to give you all from Joanna (jophoto). Originally I scanned the Internet to find such a plant in order to use it as reference for my painting, then forgot where I found it and didn't make note of the name of the orchid!! Had a slight senior moment guys lol http://www.landscape-and-garden.com/orchids/disa-uniflora.aspx

Beautiful Jane. The flower looks like an orchid that I wanted to own once, but it was difficult to grow when I looked it up.I keep thinking Masdevallia, but that's not it. It was in one of the greenhouses in Longwood Gardens and I never physically saw it again. I think it was a terrestrial orchid (Grows in the ground, not on a tree).

It is so amazing to see how your painting has progressed. Something like this could never be done in 3-d. I especially love the frog clinging on and how despite his best efforts he is getting nailed right on the head with a drop! The flower is amazing - so vibrant and fresh. So much like the flush of plant life that happens after a rain - as I look out my window I am seeing it happen.

What's this? No cats? Is this the same JaneEden I'm accustomed to? Nonetheless, a sterling rendition of the African bloom -- that looks suspiciously like an orchid -- along with ancillary items, such as the determined little froggy scaling what looks like a wooden support. Fantastic job, Miss Jane!

Oh Jane, this is so amazing! I can't express with words how much I love your images and that you take care so much about animals, no matter how small they are!!!! You're describing the scene so wonderfully that one can almost forget all the little creatures who don't have an african flower to protect them and are swept away with the water.... well, it seems I'm a little bit depressed at the moment, have to take a look at your other artworks again, they always sbring a smile to my face. Lots of hugs!!!! ~Sassy~

Sis, you are such a treasure as I've said so many times before. Trust me this touching work of art was just what was needed tonight to make me feel better. You have such a caring heart and I love the way this simple flower became a shelter to so many in need. For sure this could serve as a lesson about how the simplest things can be of great importance to so many.
