Description
Also known as the H-37 SeaRanger and/or H-58 Kiowa.
Captured 10/24/10, at the 9th Annual Wings Wheels Rotors & Expo, held at the beautiful Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) in beautiful Los Alamitos, California.

Other than a few military models, I'm no helicopter expert by a long shot, so I went out on a limb in identifying this stellar aircraft. If any of the whirlybird mavens out there know otherwise, let me know.
And, I've been egregiously remiss in having not posted any of the tons/tonnes of helicopter pics that have been languishing in my voluminous files over the years. My apologies to all, especially debbielove.
That said, this is just one of the copters -- and there were several on hand -- employed at the air show to offer up joy rides to anyone who didn't mind forking out 35 bucks for a memorable aerial spin around the vast facility. And please don't suggest that I should have gone for it just to take pictures from above. I can't afford stuff like that.
Photo #5 shows one of the ground crew helping passengers from the craft after their flight. And the wind whipped up by the rotor blades on takeoff and landing literally knocked me backwards. But at least I got some blur effects out of the blades in the overall effort, as in the top foto.
Adieu, thankx for coming aboard, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

Neat shots. I have gotten some of a Bell helicopter here recently. I love them and would love a ride in one.

Excellent shots of this bird, Harry; they always remind me of dragonflies. The name "Sky 5" makes me think it's a news reporting copter. Well done!

One person, who would be able to help identifying more or other info, about this big bird, might be Bill (bmac62) for sure! I don't need to know anymore - it's a great looking chopper and a joyride wouldn't be out of the question (would you ever really want to go?) The only thing, that would worry me, sitting at the front, without a door! nice collage Harry, BB

$35! Well gotta say that's WAY cheaper than they rip you off for here....mind you what with 60% of fuel costs going to our WONDERFUL Government, not surprising really! These are great shots Harry, and you know? I have been to many Airshows with Helicopters giving pleasure flights and never taken a shot of one! I must try and rectify that.. Thanks and great collage Rob

Sounds like a bargain if thats your thing, I would like to do a hot air balloon ride some day but they are a lot more expensive than I thought.

Great idea to treet kids etc to a quick flight and raise funds for a good cause. Wonderful collage and indivual photos.

Nice shooting Harry... It is a fine bird...have flown in several belonging to the US Army while I was still on active duty in the 1970s.
