Description

We had a small tsunami the 3rd of January 2012 at the coast of Holland (and other parts of the country) Not earthquake related, but created by an amazing storm that rolled in yesterday. Within minutes the sea retreated several meters.. than came back 1m55 higher than normally is the case ! rolling in towards the boulevard and over it. Not many saw it. Me neither, the storm was too freaky !! but the results could be seen today .. As large parts of the beach are gone.. and a sand cliff rises 1m85 above sealevel (that is 6f1+) An amazing sight And in a way good that no body saw it from up close, as they would have been washed away by the ice cold water. We call this amazing winter of 2012 not a winter, but a Winder.. as it is storm, storm, storm

please... storm, storm, storm.... you still had your boat on the water in December - lol.... I know better than that, I've been paying attention - lol... but serious though, it does look like you had some water doing it's thing here, stay safe and if there are any nuke plants, get far away from them... funny you don't hear anything about Japan's problem.... I guess they don't want to make a big deal of radiation poisoning that could effect us all from eating sea food or buying cars or.....

And to think, that damage was likely caused by one wave!

Sounds like the rogue wave phenomenum...I've seen this same unusual thing on the coast of Maine. Fascinating photo and information.
