Description

         &nbspThe sun had already risen for a couple of hours in the mild air of Spring in the little pilgrim city of Pushkar in the heart of Rajasthan. As I was ambling through a narrow street overlooking the sacred waters of the pond which, according to Hindu mythology, was created by the tears of Lord Shiva mourning his wife Satti, a group of women -most probably pilgrims- suddenly turned up and passed me by, leaving me no time to capture them in my Nikon. There was only one thing left for me to do, turn around as fast as possible and set once and for all in my camera that vision of colourful and veiled silhouettes moving on slowly in the morning light ...

         &nbspThis shot is also a reminder for me that India (and Nepal) are countries where the people, both men and women, enjoy wearing colorful garments. On arriving in Paris Charles de Gaulle airport after only two weeks in India, it felt -at least for the first hours- like being an actor in a black and white movie !...

Splendid work as always Jean-Luc, and this one truly brightened my day. So glad you were able to capture this lovely image that seemed to almost have a spiritual feel to it based on your description here. Their colorful veils are so eye catching and it's easy to see why their culture provides such a colorful contrast in comparison to Europe and the States

C'est vrai que c'est une civilisation qui aime beaucoup la couleur. Chez nous, je pense que tout est assez "formaté" et le noir est blanc est de bon goût (pense aux hommes d'affaires, aux politiciens, mais aussi aux serveurs de restaurants de haut de gamme !) Ta visite de l'Inde a du être un vrai bonheur pour les yeux ! Je t'envie et je te remercie de partager un peu avec nous toutes ces beautés !

Wonderful color shot, the strength and vibrancy really jump out here. Your predicament is why I often keep my Nikon Coolpix at hand or even in my hand when traveling. Sometimes opportunities pop up that you just have to reflexively grab; when I have a bit longer then I pull out my SLR. You did very well here, you still managed to sieze the moment.

Ta remarque est si juste ; nous sommes tristounes ! Un oeil sur les hommes (femmes aussi) politiques : c'est tout gris ou bleu marine !!! Dans la rue ce n'est pas mieux, d'autant que le "chic" français semble avoir disparu ! Ici, c'est lumineux, coloré, joyeux et ta superbe photo rend un bel hommage à la beauté de ces gens.
