Description

Okay, a very small hummock! :P This is a closeup of our lawn on that very frosty morning. The detail is better in full view.

Zoom is a must. Very neat image. You can see the frost 'needles' on each blade.

I've always liked the crunchy sound the grass makes when it's covered with frost. Nice photo.

Love the DOF & detail & it makes a fine abstract composition. An example of the kind of thing I would never think of shooting (until now)...

Ooooo, like the detail. I see you were using the nifty fifty:) Provides a very shallow DOF which works great here.

Oooh! This is amazing. The only way I could have gotten a shot half as good as this would have been to get a cold belly! I agree that ZOOM is a must on this image! There's so much to see. And it's funny, I'm reading Brian Aldiss' Helliconia Trilogy (I read Helliconia Winter as a teenager, but never actually read the two preceding stories!) Now that I'm reading all of them (and one of them again) in order, this image really resonates with me, only I don't see primitive Humans struggling back into civilized civilization, and loads of minotaur-ish native Phagors roving around, carrying ticks in their fur. I can do without Helliconian ticks, but they do drive the story! Anyway, before I ramble any farther, I'll pull back an and just say what a knock-down-drag-out-cool photo this is. Really! It's brilliant!

Fantastic Tara. We had a cold spell too, 26 F at my house one morning, but no frost. I guess we lack the moisture!
