I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Lovely shot.

Beautiful Carin. Looks like this sand came at one time from red rocks...lots of iron oxide in there to give us that reddish color.

Sterling capture of this beautifully colored and textured arid scene, Carin. I love the feel of Kalahari sand running through my fingers.

My favorite thing about sand and grass is the patterns the blowing grass makes as it sways back and forth across the sand in the breeze. The ripples are wonderful, and those little tracks of whatever-it-was-that-went-by are delightful!

Beautiful patterns & colors & the pastel blue sky provides the perfect contrast...

Very beautiful capture Carin. I especially like the tracks of what-ever creature bounded upwards to the top

I like the color and how the wind sculpts the sand into wonderful abstract patterns. It looks like someone or something has left its mark while passing through.

Very nice!

The tracks on the sand are from Springbuck! I forgot to mention it!

Wonderful shot....the colors, the details, the ripples in the sand, the little footprints - very interesting! Before my eyes could even finish reading the title, my mind was reminded of an old movie "Sands of the Kalahari" that I saw many years ago. Hadn't thought of that in years. :)

I agree about the wind patterns in the sand and I noticed tiny footprints in the sand - lower left!
