Description

I spent some time trying to photograph the eclipse last night. Photos were okay, but really I'm spoiled. So I put this together in about an hour. Working in DAZ Studio, the moon is a sphere with 8K Moon textures I found someplace on the internet. I built another sphere to act as the Earth and scaled and positioned them to represent the actual earth and moon. I created a distant light for the sun and set the shadow color to a dark orange. Shadow softness to around 0.66%. Then I tinkered until it looked like what I saw last night (I used one of my less than stellar photos for reference). Post in Photoshop with a starfield background I've been recycling for a while. 'Hero' stars are little lens flares in Knoll light factory. There is also a hint of a big purple flare to add some color and give the impression of a photo. Hope you like.

A great reminder! I stayed up to watch it, it was around 3-4am here. It has an eerie feeling as the moon slowly slips into shadow - great image!
