The atmosphere of power and threat created here puts me in mind of the scenes of the Nazgûl pursuing Arwen Undómiel and Frodo in Lord of the Rings. I underline that I have no idea what actually inspired this splendid and intricate image; I say only that it reminded me of that wonderfully dramatic chase. I presume easily enough that other viewers might be reminded of other things, say: the Norman landing at Pevensey in 1066.
