Description

Van was shocked! Avery had brought him to the Aqua Park to take swimming lessons...from Mab? The person he hated!? The person he blamed for his downfall. How was Van going to deal with this humiliation? And when his Father finds out, would what little self-esteem he had left will be destroyed forever!? "Have fun!" Avery said as he walked away. "I'll be back in an hour!" "Avery, Wait!" Van cried. Avery was already gone, walking towards a group of pretty young woman wearing bikini bathing suits. Van froze as Cadet Mab walked up to him with a big smile on his face. "He must love this!" Van thought. "Thinking he is going to teach me anything! I despise him so much! I've done everything I can to keep my distance from him. If not for Mab, I would have won our planet's scholarship to Empire Star Academy! My Dad would would love and respect me!" A sickening feeling lurched in Van's stomach as Mab stretched out his hand for Van to shake. "I am NOT going to shake his hand!" Van thought. A second went by, a second that seemed to last an eternity! Van looked at Mab directly in the eyes for only a moment, but it was enough. Van felt something in the back of his mind urging him to shake Mab's hand! "What a nice guy Mab is!" Van thought. "He seems very friendly. Maybe I should at least pretend to be polite!" Van was astonished that he was suddenly shaking hands with Mab. A confused feeling threaten to overwhelm as he suddenly despised and liked Mab at the same time! "Hi! I'm Mab Elon!" Mab said with a friendly smile. "It's great to finally meet you! Your name is Van, right...? "Hi! I am Van Artell!" Van said. "Look about the swimming lessons..." "Oh, I am sure you don't really need swimming lessons!" Mab said. "But maybe you would permit me to give you a few pointers? I know the instructors like to pick out a few Cadet's to make an example out of, and I really don't want that to happen to you!" "Well..." Van stammered. "Why does he have to be so nice?" Van thought. "He's obviously going out of his way to keep me from being embarrassed!" "You would be doing me a great favor, Van!" Mab said. "I am getting credits for this from the Academy and I think it would make both of us look good!" "How so?" Van asked. "The fact that you are willing to come here and take special instruction from a fellow Cadet! The instructors will call it initiative and team work!" Mab said. "Those are the kind of qualities that get you noticed!" "Look at him! Just look at him!" Van thought. "Why does he have to be so kind and perfect?! That Jacket is so cool, too! Nobody else gets a jacket like that at the academy! Maybe I can learn about how he achieves all these things? That would make Dad happy if I can get the instructors to like me as well as they like Mab!" "Okay, Mab!" Van said. "I'll give it try!" "Great! Lets get to the pool!" Mab said. Even as he said the words, Van couldn't believe it. He and Mab doing something together? What was happening to him? To Be Continued!
