The Darkness of the Daylight

I remember standing, eyes full of tears
As I watched her leave my side.
My mind and heart succumbed to fears
That deep in my soul now reside.
She walked away, never looking back
Keeping her eyes from meeting my own,
And as she left, I felt my heart crack
From the seeds of pain that had been sown.
I cry out as she leaves my sight
My heart turning to stone solidly hewn,
And since that morning's dawning light
My dreams remain barren endless dunes.
I do not know if she will ever return
To grace the dreamland of the night,
But for her presence my soul now burns,
And without her, darkness fills the daylight.
