I love making dark pulpy art. Grew up watching too much TV in the 1970s, horror flicks, James Bond flicks, Detective magazines and played too much Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition in the 1980s (I don't even recognize what WotC did to my beloved game). The best description of my art is like a multiple vehicle wreck on the freeway. It's shocking, disturbing and anxiety provoking though you can't help but rubberneck as you drive by. I have to rely on those elements since I lack innate talent in the visual arts. My stick figures are crooked. My college degree is in music, different kind of art. The Bio picture shows me and my boys makin' some joyous noise. I also enjoy being a background actor in Hollywood made features when they film in my community. My day gig is software development, I write code that queries databases and can manipulate 3D mesh OBJ assets.

Amazing ... the 3080ti is the new flagship an minimal slower than the 3090 ... but right now i dont buy a new graficcard i wait till october ... the prices will fall very extreme (i am an IT Dealer)

Wow, October? I doubt i could wait that long while people are rendering at 10.2K CUDA before me. LOL Our family used to run a PC building company back in 1984-1990 and so we could get parts cheap but its been a long time since I could get parts at a nicely discounted price. Lucky you Brain!

Dang! Super-fast and I bet the 3080ti could crank out a 1920x1080 render in just a matter of a few seconds!
niceshoez
Yeah, super-fast for sure, I am happy to report a DAZ Iray render at the 1920x1130 dimensions, 2K samples took 4 minutes. I am beyond thrilled....

nice! what about the heat and how many power need it? i'm not realy up to date .... my last hardware-refresh was about two years
niceshoez
Thanks! Well I 'm not quite sure on what the power throughput is but it takes two of the 8 pin connectors from the current PSU and they feed into a single adaptor for power. Power is is better handled in these RTX cards and more efficient apparently than my 1080 TI.
The heat doesn't seem as bad either. It has two fans one on each side of the card. I have to be especially careful with heat because my mobo is 15 years old and the BIOS doesn't kick the fan on anymore so what you can't see in the photo is a giant Vornado fan constantly blowing into the open case. I used to crash all the time with the heat coming off the 1080 TI until I put a powerful room fan blowing into the case. The case is always open to better expel the heat.

I had to get a paper towel for all the drool.
niceshoez
Let's conserve trees, if you hand me your used paper towel, I'll wipe mine up with it too... :)

Bitcoin miners have been scooping them all up.
niceshoez
Yeah Etherium too, Hopefully the blockchain hobbler tech Nvidia put on them will make the rate of mining slow enough to make the GPU unattractive for cryptominers
