Hello, I will try and make something more aesthetic of this page, but for now a short text will do.
I have always given myself other names. Not that I dislike my parents' choice, no. But I never could identify with it. Several names have come and gone, each one covering a chapter of my life. Some refered to other incarnations, some were chosen to generate a new kind of action and most have never been known to anyone. Here, at Renderosity, I have been "known" as Aeneas, the name that suited with the phase of my life during which I needed to bring the old into the new. This phase of my life came to an end when Morgane (known here as Gongyla" chose to go her own way. Now I am Tanchelyn, a Kathar who caused quite an uproar in Antwerp, my home-town. Tanchelyn, or Tanchelm, fought against materialism that held spirituality in its grip. Because of this he was killed by a priest. This happened during the 12th century.
I'm interested in a lot of things, but my Renderosity membership is focused on photography. After years of taking slides, I now prefer the digital way, using a Canon 40D with some Sigma lenses. The digital darkroom is Bibble (raw to 16bit tiff) and CS2 for the final details.
I often listen to music when working with my computer. I love Renaissance/Barock to contemporary classical ( Vivaldi, Gesualdo, Monteverdi, Wagner, Mahler, Debussy, Ravel, Sorabji, Ligeti, McKevitt, Mansurian, Takemitsu,...) , and also Opeth, early Pink Floyd, Miranda Sex Garden, King Crimson ('till Starless), Porcupine Tree... Thomas Köner's soundscapes and Persian music.
Movies I like include la Belle et la Bête (Cocteau), Metropolis, Dead Man, Angel Heart, Jacob's Ladder, When night is falling, Blade Runner, LOTR and Pan's Labyrinth.
Writers in English include Marion Zimmer Bradley, Thoreau , Anne Rice, Poe, Shelley, Blake, Michael Moorcock, Colin Wilson and Oscar Wilde.
Favourite photographers include Lucien Clergue, Léonard Missonne, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Igor Laptev and Elena Vasilieva.
I interpret myself as being a chaotic, anarchistic libertine who loves Krishnamurti, quantum mechanics, relativity and chaos theory. I also love a glass of good wine or whisky (but I hate being drunk) and Japanese food. I don't smoke and don't need drugs, although ayahuasca is sometimes very tempting. My pet wish is to be able to make movies of my dreams.
My goal in life is to feel the pulse of life inside- and around me, and creativity is my favourite tool to reach this goal. Apart from photography and the traditional media of painting and drawing, I am interested in digital art. My tools include Photoshop CS2, Cinema4D 10.1 (with some modules and plugins) and ZBrush 3.1
BTW: the name my parents gave me is Erik. And I'm a professional painter.
I'm rebuilding my site, handcoded, and although it will never be finished, you can visit it at:
